Not familiar enough with BMW electronics to say whether it's a cluster or some component in between the temperature sensor and the cluster. Oil temp of around 117F isn't operating temperature. I consistently read 240-250 on the dash gauge after driving around a bit. My coolant temp floats around 210-220.
