Just start a game like you would with one of the official Valve campaigns and people will be able to join your game if they have the same maps as you do. There will be the option to download whatever maps you're playing for users who don't already have the maps. OnyxJuvie. • 3 yr. ago.
I tend to get this message a lot on custom maps. I don't play the official maps much so I don't know if it happens on them, but it tends to boot me out of or prevent me from joining lobbies. I've verified my local cache, did a fresh reinstall (deleted L4D2 in steamapps), and ran autoconfig. I've also run the game with my addons switched off, but I still get this issue.
